Entegris, Inc. (NASDAQ: ENTG) announced the opening of its Singapore Digital Manufacturing Technology Center (SDMTC).
The SDMTC will enable Entegris to explore new possibilities for developing products and processes using state-of-the-art digital 3D printing technologies with modeling and simulation capabilities. It will make it possible for Entegris and its customers to address current design constraints and analyze a broader array of innovations in product and process development by replicating a product’s performance without producing physical prototypes.
“We believe that technology has the potential to transform the future of manufacturing,” said Montray Leavy, Entegris’ deputy chief technology officer. “At the SDMTC, our goal is to accelerate discovery for this transformation. The Singapore ecosystem has been critical to helping Entegris drive new and unique capabilities, like additive manufacturing, and offers the opportunity to leverage emerging technologies through public-private partnerships with local partners like A*STAR’s Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech) and the Institute of High Performance Computing (IHPC). Our work at the SDMTC is possible because of these collaborations.”
According to Jim O’Neill, Entegris’ senior vice president and chief technology officer, “With the SDMTC, we are in a strong position to develop new digital capabilities and co-innovate new solutions that can be applied to Entegris’ products for its global customers in the semiconductor industry. This will translate into faster time to solution as well as faster time to yield,” he said.
The SDMTC will be fully digital, and all major phases in the R&D product development cycle from idea generation to testing and validation will be digitalized. The SDMTC’s ability to handle large volumes of data will create a digital thread that connects the characteristics of raw materials to the performance metrics of final products.
