Akoustis Technologies, Inc., an integrated device manufacturer (IDM) of patented bulk acoustic wave (BAW) high-band RF filters for mobile and other wireless applications, announced today that it has completed the second design iteration of a 5G mobile filter and shipped samples to its first XBAW mobile foundry customer.
The new filter samples utilize Akoustis’ newly developed wafer-level-package technology and target mobile applications including 5G smartphones and other devices. This engagement continues to progress towards one or more design wins, and Akoustis is targeting production ramp in the second half of calendar 2023. This is expected to be the second 5G mobile XBAW customer in production following the expected launch of the first tier-1 customer expected in late calendar 2022/early calendar 2023.

Akoustis is actively delivering volume production of its Wi-Fi 6 tandem filter solutions, shipping multiple 5G small cell XBAW filter solutions, delivering initial designs of its new 5G mobile filter solutions to multiple customers and has entered the market with its new Wi-Fi 6E coexistence XBAW filter solutions. To date, Akoustis has received more than 20 customer design wins for its patented XBAW filter solutions.
