The Advanced Analytical Measurement & Metrology Workshop will be held November 16, 2023 at Gila River Resorts at Wild Horse Pass. The semiconductor industry is facing many challenges around how complex fab chemistries, materials, equipment, parts, and process steps create new forms of interactive compatibility issues, more defects, and new defect sources. The entire supply chain now requires unprecedented purity and consistency requirements in advanced fab materials and chemicals. These “New Strains of Interactive Process Defectivity” are significant “Yield Limiters” for <10nm technology readiness and can have a severe negative economic impact. Addressing these issues requires a renewed commitment to developing on and off-line analytical measurement instrumentation, standardized methods of analysis, calibration standards, and new metrology techniques that possess the resolution for detecting defects at the molecular and even atomic level.
For the industry to address these needs, we are hosting a workshop in conjunction with leading semiconductor producers and measurement experts to discuss these challenges and develop initial thoughts on a path forward for establishing a National Center for Advanced Analytical Measurement & Metrology.
