Heraeus, a global technology group, celebrated the official launch of its new Heraeus Covantics plant in Shenyang, northeast China. This significant milestone was witnessed by over 150 representatives from Heraeus’ global and China managementteams, customers, government officials, and partners.
Dr. Frank Stietz, member of the Board of Managing Directors & COO of Heraeus Group, emphasized: “As China continues to advance in developing high-quality industries, Heraeus is actively contributing to this progress. The opening of our new production site in Shenyang is a testament to our ongoing commitment to our “In China, for China” strategy and our dedication to being close to our customers.
The new facility, with an investment of nearly RMB 600 million integrates advanced green and smart technologies. It specializes in high-purity synthetic quartz products for semiconductor applications, significantly enhancing production efficiency.
Aligned with Heraeus’ sustainability vision, the plant features an advanced wastewater recycling system and 100% automated control. Plans for a rooftop solar power system will further reduce carbon emissions.
The plant’s dedicated R&D facility has secured multiple utility model patents, overcoming key technical challenges in quartz processing.
Xiaodong Cai, General Manager of Heraeus Covantics China, stated, “Once fully operational, the plant’s capacity and output value are expected to significantly increase, generating substantial economic and social benefits.”
Heraeus will continue to focus on semiconductor devices and integrated circuit industrialization, driving the development of a comprehensive semiconductor ecosystem in Northeast China.
